Much Asphalt is proud to partner with Go for Gold, a non-profit organisation established in 1999 that creates pathways from education to employment for talented young people from disadvantaged communities and helps to address the shortage of technical skills in the construction and manufacturing industries.

In 2026 Much Asphalt is hosting 11 Workplace Learning Internship students from Go for Gold’s Gauteng operation.
This critical gap-year experience provides students with direct exposure to the roads and infrastructure sector, allowing them to gain practical skills, build professional confidence, and make informed decisions about their future studies before entering the higher education phase of the programme.

The Western Cape Government established the Masakh’iSizwe (MiS) Bursary Programme in 2006 to attract more trained professionals into the engineering and built environmental fields. The MiS Bursary Programme awards external bursaries for studies at higher education institutions in the Western Cape.
Studies should relate to a degree or diploma in transport, engineering, built environment, or disciplines that are deemed to be scarce and critical.
The programme prioritises disadvantaged learners, especially women, students with disabilities, and learners from rural communities. It secures on-the-job learning for its bursars and employment opportunities for graduates.
As a partner of the Masakh’iSizwe Bursary Programme, Much Asphalt offers placements to the students to obtain industry experience.
Much Asphalt partners with universities across South Africa to deliver lectures on critical research and development topics. We invest our time and expertise to help drive progress in the industry.
We also support student research projects by providing access to our laboratories, and we host plant tours for students, universities, and industry partners.
